Beyond 12 Shades of Awesome

It's like, when the universe ends, what comes after that? Since the 12 Shades of Awesome Arizona Cardinals, Probably the Greatest, ah, you know the rest, won on Saturday night, I have been dazed. We've never been to this place before.

At half time, I was talking to my best friend, Kingston Steve, and he told me that sure, Arizona was up 27-7, but in all likelihood, Carolina was coming back and would win 28-27 because that was the script. He knew the script, he added, because he was a Jets fan. And he was right, except that the Cardinals continued to pummel the Panthers, more or less. Now, they are the last team to finally be in a Conference Championship. It's unbelievable. It's like seeing what's on the other side of the edge of the universe. If they get killed next Sunday, the season would still be successful beyond my wildest Cardinal fan dreams. I feel as good about this game as I did the other 2, though, so don't be surprised if they pull another rabbit out of a hat and win.

It would have been fun if they were to meet the Chargers in the Super Bowl as it would have given me further reason to trash talk with a certain San Diegan reader, but it wasn't meant to be. I may be able t0 get some trash talking in, though, if the Super Bowl ends up Pittsbugh vs. Arizona. I'm crossing my fingers.

Both of our teams just need to pluck the feathers from some annoying birds, and then the trash talking can begin.

If Arizona win the Superbowl and Liverpool win the Premiership, I'll meet you for drinks afterwards. You can pick the place.

I hope they're ready to get beaten by the Eagles.

I hate to say I told you so (no I don't) but you may remember me calling that the underdog Cardinals would in fact win outright. I was off on the Pitts score, but the over hit, which I had. You're welcome.

BE: I've got 35 years of material stored up, waiting to be used.

IR: I'm assuming Liverpool is the Arizona Cardinals of English soccer. If that is the case and you are a fan, you have my deepest sympathies.

Dr. Z: There's no way the Cardinals can win, right? I'm there's no way they could hang in against Atlanta, and there's certainly no way they could ever, I mean, ever, beat Carolina, right? You got nothing to worry about.

mike: Your NFL football picking prowess has been well established. I don't bet actual money on sports because my luck on such matters is dreadful (my picks for this week were horrible, but typical). I say keep pickin' the Cards, though.

red: I was actually pulling for the Chargers, but alas, it was not meant to be. It would have been fun watching a 9-7 team play an 8-8 team in the Super Bowl.

Red was pulling for the Cardinals? Shame on you, Red! Shame on you!

Poor Panthers. I even watched the game. Okay, well, some of it. Between remote control trips over to ABC to watch the rerun of The Bachelor. Hey, I'm a girl, whaddya want?

I want to see Donovan McNabb bring back his Male-Pattern Afro for this game.

What I DON'T want to see is a repeat of the last Super Bowl Kurt Warner was in... I can't handle another 10,000 camera shots of his gross lesbian wife in the stands.

Kurt Warner thinks he has God on his side, but God was a Steelers fan long before he ever came along.

I thought of you as Larry yet again proved himself unstoppable - congrats, sir!
