If you haven't been watching American Idol, something amazing is going on there - an honest-to-God musician/artist is performing on a level the likes of which the show has never seen. Adam Lambert aka "Madame Glambert" (Beckeye's name) is a man among boys, no pun intended. If the show's producers don't screw up their dealings with him, he will legitimize the AI brand. I defy you to disagree with me so we can come back in a couple years and laugh at your ridiculous contrary comments!

Whoa! I just relegated this blog to RIP status and now you pop up.
I like Adam, but I must admit, I am surprised about the reaction he's received...not because he's not amazing and deserving, but because he's so unlike anything AI has ever seen before. I mean, he can be SO theatrical! Maybe that's why they love him so much.

Second of all - I don't watch Idol. So I youtubed that shit. What's so impressive of him doing a cover of Gary Jules doing a cover of my favorite Tears for Fears song? Seriously, if that song is ruined for me because of this "Adam Lambert" character, then I'm-a-gonna start punching someone.
Rassles - You watched his least interesting performance. YouTube his crazy-ass Indian-inspired version of "Ring of Fire," or the stripped-down "Tracks of My Tears."
This is one time when I completely agree with you Mathdude. Adam is totally worth talking about. He's an amazing singer, although I will say that if this were a competition to find the next hot Broadway singer, he might not stand out as much because those people are all incredible. HOWEVER, on American Idol? He just blows everyone away every day. And some people say he's too "screechy" or "theatrical," and I suppose that's all subjective stuff, but the guy has presence. No one can deny that. Whether you love or hate him, you can't not watch him and everyone wants to see what he'll do next.
As to Red's comment - I think the judges and the show have no choice but to react to him positively because he was an immediate fan favorite. Maybe the 3 stooges (and superfluous Kara) are finally realizing that they don't know what the public wants better than we do, and are finally willing to embrace someone who wasn't created from the AI cookie-cutter.

Rassles: Let's start with Mad World - I don't care who covered it, Tears For Fears is awesome and the song is awesome! If last night's performance didn't impress, check out what he did during Country Week. He did a Goth version of a Johnny Cash song and scared the shit out of Randy Travis with his black fingernail polish in the process. Utterly and completely fucking brilliant!
